Announcements: Week 2 (September 14–20, 2025)

Welcome back, dancers! We’re heading into our second week of classes, and there’s lots happening—registration deadlines, dance team sign-ups, and our first big monthly dance. Here’s everything you need to know:

 

New Announcements

1) Summer Draw Winner

Congratulations to Tiffany Y., winner of our summer prize draw! 🎉
Thank you to everyone who participated—we loved seeing the excitement leading up to the new dance year.

 

2) Online Registration – Final Call

If you haven’t registered for classes yet, this is your last chance for Term 1!

Once registration closes, you’ll need to wait until Term 2 (January) to join classes—so don’t miss out!

 

3) Dance Team Registration (Intermediate & Advanced)

Do you want to take your dancing to the next level? The Performance Dance Team is back this term!

  • Style: Foxtrot
  • Registration: Register online before or within a week of Wednesday, September 17, 2025
  • Class Start Day and Time: Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at 8:15 PM
  • Location: Trinity Orthodox Church Hall

This is a special single-term class where you’ll learn choreography to perform at the Mistletoes Dinner Dance. The routine will include styling and technique beyond what’s taught in regular classes.

👉 Come prepared to dance at registration—it’s a chance to get moving with the team right away!

 

4) Term 1 Workshop – NEW Date & Location

Mark your calendars—our first member workshop of the year has a new date and venue:

  • Date - Saturday, October 4, 2025
    • Level 1: 11am -12:30pm
    • Level 2: 1pm - 2:30pm
    • Level 3: 3pm - 4:30pm
  • Location - Trinity Orthodox Church Hall
  • Style - Tango
  • Cost - $10 per session

Workshops are a great way to get extra instruction, try a different style, and meet dancers from other classes. 

 

5) Refer a Friend, Win a Prize!

Did you invite a friend to join the club this year? If they registered, let our VP know at vp@uofsbdc.ca.

As a thank-you for helping grow our dance community, you’ll receive a small prize!

 

 

Carried-Over Announcements

1) Volunteers Needed

We’re looking for volunteers for upcoming events!

  • Harvest Swing Dance – Saturday, October 25

👉 Put in 6+ volunteer hours this term and you’ll earn:

  • Early registration for next term’s classes
  • A free ticket to a monthly dance

2) Harassment & Scent Policy

We’re committed to creating a safe, respectful, and welcoming space for everyone.

  • Concerns? Speak with an instructor or an executive member.

🚫 Please remember to avoid scented products, as some dancers have sensitivities.

 

3) Class Transfers

Need to switch class times or levels? Fill out the transfer request form on our website.

  • All transfers require executive approval

  • Note: refunds are not available if moving down a level

     

4) September Monthly Dance

Come dance the night away at our first monthly social of the year!

$10 members | $15 non-members

👉 Don’t forget to bring a water bottle and clean, non-marking shoes.

⚠️ Important: Future monthly dances will take place at Lakeview Church.

 

5) Volunteer Lead/Follow Program

Help keep our classes balanced! If you’re willing to switch roles occasionally (leading or following), sign up through our website. This helps make sure everyone gets the most out of their lessons.

 

6) Executive Positions Open

We’re looking for passionate members to join the executive team. Current openings:

  • Financial Officer
  • Member at Large

7) Practice Sessions – Free for Members

Practice makes progress! Our weekly practice sessions are free for all members.
