Curriculum

Beginner

Beginner class is perfect for people who have never danced ballroom, or other styles. No experience in any style of dance is necessary. Most new members start here, and stay in the beginner level for a couple years to get comfortable with the curriculum. You will typically learn the fundamentals of Cha Cha, Foxtrot, Jive, Rumba, Salsa, Tango, Waltz. Additional dances may be taught depending on time. Most dancers will benefit from two or more years at the Beginner level, though it is not uncommon to spend many more years taking Beginner classes. Classes are one hour in length.

Follows the Beginner curriculum with 7 different dances taught over one year.

Curriculum Year

Intermediate

Intermediate level dancers have typically taken two or more years of beginner, and are comfortable with the timing, technique, and figures taught at that level. People registered in this level know the figures and dances taught in beginner, can identify them by name, and dance them comfortably in a social setting as well as in class. West Coast Swing, East Coast Swing, and Samba are typically introduced at the Intermediate level. Classes are 1:15 in length. Most dancers will benefit from spending three or more years at the Intermediate level before thinking of moving to Advanced. The Intermediate curriculum is delivered on a two-year rotation; that is, not all of Intermediate curriculum is offered every year.

This class is intended for those who have completed at least one full year of Beginner. Ten different dances being taught over one year.

Curriculum Year

Advanced

Advanced class caters to dancers who have been dancing for a while, and can perform all dances and figures taught at the Intermediate level with solid technique and timing. Advanced level introduces Viennese Waltz, and Quickstep. Classes are 90 minutes in length. It is not uncommon for dancers to vary between taking Advanced and Intermediate or Intermediate Plus classes as their schedule allows.

This class is intended for those who have completed at least two full years (Odd and Even) of Intermediate. The Advanced curriculum is offered on a 4 year rotation with nine different dances being taught over one year.
